06.10.18 Musician’s Biography:

Cong Quartet

Cong Quartet was one of the selected groups to work closely with the Pacifica Quartet at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music String Quartet Seminar. Their performances at IU included the Wylie House Museum’s “Saturday Afternoon String Quartets” Series.

Cong Quartet is now the visiting quartet at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, their members have studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Eastman School of Music, Bard College, Chinese University of Hong Kong and all the members have studied at the Jacobs School of music at Indiana University. The name of the quartet “Cong” is a combination of the quartet founding members’ last names, which also implies that the quartet was originally from Hong “Kong”, where the founding members grew up and played together since their teenage before the Quartet was officially formed in the United States.

Head Clowns

Artistic musical duo Head Clowns perform an eclectic mix of songs from Europe, Russia and Latin America. Mixing ukulele, vocals and clarinet, their compositions weave ancient and modern melodies into striking performances that surprise and enchant. Inspired by everything from TV themes to shoe-gaze via house music and avant-garde jazz, they have distilled their diverse talents and years of performing experience into a finely-honed unit capable of playing absolutely anywhere!

Ron Ng and Friends

Ron Ng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a degree in music composition. He has been performing on guitar for over 18 years and has a keen interest in jazz.

Ron studied with notable jazz and classical guitarists in Hong Kong such as Tommy Ho, Eugene Pao, Chris Wong and Guy le Claire. In order to enhance his jazz music, he took master classes of worldwide jazz players John Surman, Satoshi Inoue, Rotem Sivan, Peter O’Mara and Bruce Saunders.

Ron is very experienced in guitar performance. He performed with Hong Kong’s finest jazz musicians and pop stars, including Guy Le Claire, Scott Dodd, Paulo Levi, Eugene Pao and Sylvain Gagnon. He is a lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts for the jazz improvisation ensemble.

Cong 四重奏

Cong 四重奏成立於美國,在印第安納大學考進弦樂四重奏集訓班,師隨太平洋四重奏。在印第安納時的演出包括在衛理居博物館的「週六弦樂四重奏」系列音樂會。

Cong 四重奏的成員現為香港演藝學院的四重奏特別生,曾經分別在倫敦皇家音樂學院、紐約巴德學院、伊士曼音樂學院等世界著名音樂學府學藝。四重奏的名字 「CONG」由創團成員的姓氏組成,同時暗示四位創團成員來自香「港」(兩字英文發音相同)。

Head Clowns二重奏演繹歐洲、俄羅斯及拉丁美洲的音樂,配合小木結他、聲樂及單簧管,糅合古典與現代旋律,帶來驚喜迷人的演出。二重奏的靈感來源廣泛,由電視、電音涵蓋至前衛爵士,憑藉多年的演出經驗和豐富的才華,二重奏所到之處都帶來高質素的音樂。

吳偉浩(Ron Ng)生於香港,畢業於香港演藝學院作曲及電子音樂系學位課程,擁有超過十八年結他演奏經驗。特別鍾情於爵士音樂,曾師隨Eugene Pao、Tommy Ho、Chris Wong 和Guy le Claire學習結他,師隨 Clarence Mak和Law Wing Fai學習作曲,亦曾在世界各地參與不同的爵士音樂大師班, 現為香港演藝學院爵士樂科的講師。近年亦致力於不同的地方和音樂節上演奏爵士音樂,而所創作的作品亦收錄於Hugo Record Label「無極樂團」的專輯上。
